The Bar @ Bradley Stoke Cricket Club Newsletter 15th September 2008 Well the nights are drawing in, Christmas is on its way and there is no more
cricket to be played until the end of April - thats over 6 months away! So what
are you going to do on the weekends to replace the cricket? The First Bar committee newsletter Dear Club Member Welcome to the first regular bar committee newsletter. We will be trying to send out as many of these newsletters to keep you abreast of everything that is happening during these exciting times for Bradley Stoke Cricket Club now we have taken over the bar. The first thing to mention is thanks to everyone who has come along and used the bar since we have taken over. Your custom has allowed us to get in a position where we have now got a stocked bar of as much product as we think we need, we now have a pool table and a dart board, and freeview tv which allows us to show all the Euro 2008 games when we are open. Currently we are stocking on draught Foster’s, Blackthorn, John Smiths (all at £2 per pint) and Kronenbourg (at £2.20 per pint.) We will be replacing Kronenbourg shortly with Stella Artois as this is what people have been asking for. We also stock Becks, Grolsch, Newcastle Brown and Bass in bottles plus a selection of spirits, wines and soft drinks (J20, Panda Pops and Fruit Shoots) as well as crisps and chocolates at very competitive prices. Please do, if we don’t have your favourite drink, suggest it to us. We can’t promise we will stock it but if enough people request the same we will look at that product. As I have also mentioned we now have a pool table and dart board for use by all visitors to the club. The bar committee do have to ask that these are for over 12’s to use only unless an adult is supervising. The pool table, especially, is worth a lot of money and we need to ensure it is kept in an excellent condition. In order to use the pool table I will be setting up a pool competition to be held on Friday nights building up to a finals night towards the end of the season. More details will be going up in the club this weekend. I have also got a number of entertainment fund raising events planned for the coming months. This is all part of my plans to raise £2000 by November for the club. The total raised so far has just jumped over the £1000 level. With your help we can reach this with ease. The events planned so far are as below: June 21st 2008 starting at 7.30pm – MIDSUMMER BBQ AND GET TOGETHER. Tickets to club members are £5each (non-members £7.50) July 19th 2008 starting at 7.30pm – GAMES NIGHT – to include Darts, Pool, Aunt Sally, Dominoes, Cribbage, Kwik cricket. Tickets are £2.00 each August 28th 2008 starting at 7.30pm – POKER TOURNAMENT – this event is to be run by Dan Tobin, more details to follow soon. September 13th 2008 starting at 7.30pm – DVD HORSE RACING NIGHT. Horses (£5) and Jockey’s (£2) will be on sale from behind the bar from the start of July. I will also be looking for race sponsors at £10 per race, please let me know if you can help with this. To purchase tickets for these events please contact me on 07966 521673 or at tarkatheblowpig@hotmail.com or see behind the bar. Lastly, I am going to be setting up a monthly 100 club draw. This means that I am going to be selling shares in this competition at £4 per month to be paid by standing order to the bar account. (Standing order forms will be available very soon.) How this works is that every 3rd Friday of the month a draw will be held where 10 prizes will be won (1st prize £100, 2nd prize £50, 3rd prize £25 plus 7 other prizes) which gives all members a 10-1 chance of a prize each month. Hope to see you soon at the club Jez
